Classical Music

Mackenzie was first inspired by classical music early in life during a live performance at Interlochen Center for the Arts. It wasn't long until she became a musician herself, insisting on playing the violin. She quickly became immersed in as many musical activities as possible. She went on to perform as a first violinist with several orchestras, including the Saline Chamber Orchestra and the University of Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Mackenzie chose Michigan State University from a number of music scholarship offers to study under the world-renowned violinist Dmitri Berlinsky. Throughout college, she played professionally in the Rochester Symphony Orchestra, in a variety of string ensembles and taught private violin lessons.

Mackenzie continues to perform as often as possible, and is available to provide classical music for your wedding or special event.

“I have been to at least a dozen weddings where Pachelbel's Canon was played, and I view it as a typical piece of wedding music that serves as a nice, simple background for the ceremony. But hearing Mackenzie Lerchen play the Canon at a recent wedding has made me reassess my opinion of the piece. Ms Lerchen doesn't just hit the right notes; she plays from her heart, and that depth of feeling shines through in the music. The simple melody and familiar notes of the Canon sounded entirely fresh when played by Ms Lerchen. She is a very talented musician who plays with warmth, sensitivity, and an obvious love for the music. The ceremony was lovely, but the music was unforgettable.”

“Mackenzie played at our wedding ceremony and all we have to say is she was wonderful! She made the ceremony enjoyable but also took the time to meet with us to go over everything beforehand to ensure that the music would be exactly what we wanted. Communication between us was excellent! We highly recommend her - you won't be disappointed.”

“Miss Lerchen played many of the classics - Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart - at our event. She has obvious technical skill and I imagine she could play just about anything well. What makes her stand apart though, is the joy in how she plays. She plays with warmth, a sense of humor, and more than a little flair. At times her playing is introverted as she feels the depth of what she is playing. At other times she's bursting with charm and a sly smile as she connects with the audience. Her performance was outstanding and she was clearly the hit of the night.”
